Humanists practice the Golden Rule without

regard to gods or religion and contribute to

the benefit of society.

Letting others know that you are a secular (non-religious but not hostile to religion) Humanist.

Don’t debate who is right about religious beliefs or put down the beliefs of others. If you decide to “come out”, make it clear that you practice the universal rules of conduct like: treating others they way you would like to be treated, being honest, trustworthy and compassionate. Let others know that you respect their right to see things differently than you do. You don’t want to convert them or their chldren, you simply want to continue having a mutually respectful relationship with them.
